The notion
The prequel starts before the tenth Hunger Games and takes place decades before Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen. Coriolanus, who lives with his grandmother (Fionnula Flanagan) and his cousin Tigris (Hunter Schafer, who is otherwise breathtaking in an underwritten role in Euphoria), has excelled at the Academy. He is under the direction of Dr. Volumnia Gaul, who is a slyly evil Viola Davis who drops jaws, and Dean Casca, who is powerful actor Peter Dinklage. Regulators have unfortunately changed because no one is actually watching the games.
New policies, new personnel
Along with 24 other pupils, Coriolanus has been assigned as a mentor to District 12’s Lucy Gray (played by Rachel Zegler in West Side Story). She has a strong voice, a free spirit, and no desire to work with others. During the reaping ritual, she starts to sing. Her voice electrifies the crowd. Coriolanus needs to make sure he stays at Lucy’s side as the brutal Hunger Games develop.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes explores the dark and horrifying worlds of organized fascism and media sensationalism, two hotly debated subjects. The 157-minute prequel, which is divided into three parts, has varying degrees of effectiveness as it progresses from the death games’ violence to Coriolanus and Lucy’s growing devotion.
