Sony WF-C700N review- Over the past few years, a number of truly wireless headphones have emerged that won’t burn a hole in your pocket, and several of them also offer active noise cancellation. But not everyone gets it right, it’s either audio or noise cancellation, and sometimes it’s mediocre. So what to do? Because not everyone can afford headphones that cost as much as mid-range phones.

Sony, a respected name among audiophiles, offers you one option – the WF-C700N. Despite the name, which is difficult to remember, these headphones are not unforgettable. Priced at Rs 8,999, the Sony WF-C700Ns is available in various color options, with an in-ear design and active noise cancellation. Spoiler alert – they are good, but how good are they? Are they better than many active noise-canceling headphones in this price range, or are they other high-end offerings? We’ve been testing the Sony WF-C700N for a few weeks and here’s what we think of them.

DESIGN

While everyone out there is trying to imitate that one pair of earbuds or trying out some flashy and tacky designs, Sony has yet again gone with its signature design language. Though they stick out of ears like mushrooms, especially if you have small ears, they are compact, lightweight, and fit snugly inside ears. Sadly, these do not have touch controls but buttons on top of each earbud, which are tactile enough. Brownie points to WF-C700Ns for the IPX4 waterproofing.

The pill-shaped housing, which houses the two earphones, is neither too little nor too large. The case is matte, with a little front light, and a USB-C port on the back. The case’s ability to open and close with a single motion is one feature we loved. In addition to the customary dull black and white, the case and the earbuds inside them come in several intriguing colors, including sage green and lavender (the one we have with us).

The cover and earbuds don’t feel cheap despite being made of plastic. The earphones are basic to the touch, while the casing has a satisfying matte surface.

SOUND QUALITY AND NOISE CANCELLATION

The WF-C700Ns sound outstanding for their price, albeit not quite as nice as the XM4s. These headphones excel in the bass department, with well-balanced mids and highs. More prominent but not overpowering are the tracks with lots of bass. Although the 5-band in-app equalizer allows for customization for different genres, these work best with hip-hop and electronic music.

In case you missed it in the introduction, the WF-C700N boasts active noise cancellation, which typically does the trick. These isolate you from the noise if you operate in a noisy area, but you will still hear some of it. You can change between different settings, such as the On/Transparency option, which enables you to hear background noises while listening to music.

FEATURES

With Swift Pair for Windows and Fast Pair for Android, the WF-C700Ns are simple to set up. With a graphic showing battery readouts at the top of the home screen, the Sony Headphones app for Android and iOS has a wealth of functionality. There are other settings displayed on the Status, Sound, and System tabs. With a fader for ambient sound and a number of equalizer settings, the Sound tab features ANC On, Ambient Sound On, and Off modes. Each earbud’s controls, auto power-off, voice prompts, and a tutorial are located on the System tab. The earbuds include multipoint connectivity as well as support for the AAC and SBC codecs.
Therefore, the controls on these earphones are physical buttons rather than touch controls. Consequently, you

BATTERY LIFE

The battery life of these earbuds is slightly less, as they last for only 15 hours in total. However, it still offers 7.5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, which is not bad. With full charge from the case, you can get another 7.5 hours of playback. If you do not need noise cancelling, these can last for a total of 20 hours, with 10 hours of playback at a stretch.
It takes about an hour and a half to fully charge the earbuds and the case. If you are on the go, then a 10-minute charge can give an hour of playback time

VERDICT

The Sony WF-C700N are noise-canceling wireless in-ear headphones that are reasonably priced. They come in a variety of colors and have excellent sound quality and noise cancellation. They are not outstanding, but they sound much better than the majority of budget-friendly, everyday earbuds, making them a great alternative to the standard AirPods.
