It burns slowly all the way through. You won’t be able to learn anything about what’s going on until the first few episodes of this six-part limited series. The highly successful ‘Train to Busan’ director Yeon Sang-ho, who created the show, focuses more on evoking the ominous atmosphere of a dark and melancholic story about folks with a deeply difficult background. Even though the show is classified as a thriller, it places more of an emphasis on evoking a mood of death and darkness than on action. Sang-ho allows sufficient time for each character to develop a backstory.

a present, although it’s not all that captivating. Every scene has a hint of intrigue, but it never manages to become a captivating and exciting drama. Kim Hyun-Joo and Park Hee-soon lead remarkably restrained and convincing performances. The most fascinating part of this whodunit that centers on adulterous human relationships is the enigmatic equation between Yoon Seo-ha and Kim Young-ho. The excellent production design and backing music give the entire scene a sense of mystery.

However, ‘The Bequeathed’ eventually gives in to a slow pacing that tests the patience of the audience and lessens the complexity of its story, which revolves around love, treachery, and murder.
