Vivo V30

Vivo is no stranger to creating stylish smartphones, and the recently released Vivo V30 is a prime example. Despite its remarkably slim design, it nevertheless has a 5,000mAh battery and a good set of snappers. Let’s assess its total performance.

Verdict

Highlights of the Vivo V30 are its curved display, sleek and elegant design, and intriguing and practical Aura light at the rear. The phones perform admirably in most areas, such as display, cameras, and quick charging. They also have good performance and battery life. The only real drawbacks to an otherwise excellent mid-ranger are a few pre-installed apps and the absence of stereo speakers.

Design and display

The V30 isn’t much different from its more prominent sibling, the V30 Pro ( review ), in terms of design, and comes in a slim chassis that’s just 7.5mm thick and weighs 186 grams. Its slim body and curved edges make it easy to bend, but this does not affect the quality of this phone. Add to that the not-so-obvious camera island and you’ve got a great-looking phone. Our test model’s sparkling Peacock Green rear panel helps it stand out from the crowd, and it doesn’t stain easily. The Aura ring light on the back adds an extra touch to the camera side of the phone, even though its Pro sibling is hidden behind many Zeiss cameras.

With a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels, and compatibility with HDR10+, the 6.78-inch AMOLED display up front is rather good. Despite being quite large, the display looks well overall, produces vibrant colors, and isn’t too heavy to carry or use for extended periods. Its 2,800 nits claimed peak brightness means that sunlight legibility is also not a problem. Nevertheless, because of its curvature, a few mishaps may occur when using it.

Cameras

The Vivo V30’s cameras are fairly good, even though they can’t match the Zeiss quality of its Pro sister. There’s a 50MP f1.88 primary camera with optical stabilization and a 50MP ultra-wide camera available. Right in the center of what Vivo refers to as the “Aura light” is a flash. Thanks to its programmable colors, the latter may not only fill in light and brighten dimly lit areas, but it can also inspire you to create unique light displays.

In addition to the standard shooting modes, fascinating alternatives such as Superman, Astro, and Dual View are offered. Additionally, there is a Micro Movie mode that lets you record brief video snippets with effects that you may post on social media.

Battery, performance, and software

What you get out of the box is Android 14 running on Funtouch OS. The platform is packed with functionality and customization choices, but it’s also quite tidy and has a limited number of other apps. In addition to the standard suite of Google apps, Vivo offers a browser, an app called iManager that functions as a security scanner and cleanup tool, its app store called V-Appstore, and a few third-party apps including Netflix, Snapchat, PhonePe, Facebook, and LinkedIn. You can remove any of these, but I believe the majority of them should be helpful to a large number of users.

The Vivo V30 relies on the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for its performance and also has up to 12 gigabytes of RAM (another 12GB is available via storage) and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Convenience is what matters, with phones offering instant functionality for any task big or small. The game plays well and without any noticeable warm-up. The benchmarks show a good picture, and the CPU Throttle test shows that the device can maintain 84 percent of the’s performance under stress. Likewise, the 5,000mAh battery is a solid performer that easily lasts a day and can last a little longer if you’re careful. PC Mark’s battery test shows a runtime of 17 hours and 30 minutes, which is pretty good. There’s also 80W fast charging, which charges the phone in less than an hour.

Final Verdict

The Vivo V30 has many advantages, with prices starting at Rs 33,999 for the 8GB/128GB model and going up to Rs 37,999 for the top-tier 12GB/256GB edition. Unfortunately, this price range doesn’t have stereo speakers, but if performance is important to you, you might want to look into the iQOO Neo 9 Pro (review), which retails for Rs 36,999 and has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The Vivo V30 appears to perform better than its near competitors, such as the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ (review) and Samsung Galaxy A35 (review). If you’re looking for a fashionable phone that meets most of your needs, this one is worth giving a closer look thanks to its attractive design, Aura light, and strong cameras.
