OPPO Reno11 Mobile Review

OPPO Reno11 a new phone series launches, the “Pro” or “Ultra” variants typically garner greater attention. This is due to our presumption that, albeit with some concessions, the regular variant would have nearly identical characteristics to the Pro variants. Although this is usually the case, occasionally a phone may appear that defies this norm and proves that normal variations can be more affordable. I genuinely hoped that the OPPO Reno11, which I recently acquired, would fall into the same category. I can now offer my opinion on whether this phone is a good value for the money now that I have had enough time to use it.

Verdict

The OPPO Reno11 is a reliable camera phone with a respectable display and the ability to take fantastic photos. It is important to keep in mind that some competing phones in this price range have more powerful processors. Although this phone might manage most of your daily tasks, you should be aware that it is not a smartphone focused on performance.

Design and display

OPPO claims that nature served as inspiration for the Reno11’s design. The rear cover features a shimmering, flowing feel thanks to the brand’s integration of metal and silk sequins. Putting this beautiful imagery aside, the phone has a classy design. For individuals who want deeper hues, there is also a more muted version of Rock Grey. But for this phone, I would choose Wave Green.

Turning now to the display, it has a 93 percent screen-to-body ratio thanks to the 1.57mm bezels on the left and right sides of the curved screen. The 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel supports HDR10+ and has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Given that we are discussing an AMOLED panel, it should come as no surprise that the display has vivid colors and deep blacks. I had an immersive experience when watching videos on streaming apps, and I could handle the phone comfortably for hours at a time because it felt light in my hand. Having said that, the peak brightness on offer here did not particularly impress me. You can see the display’s 800-nit maximum brightness when you go outside.

I have to say that, all things considered, I’ve come to value flat screens above curved ones in recent times. Although curved displays are more visually appealing, flat panels feel more practical in daily use.

Cameras

I debated for a while whether or not to begin my evaluation with the camera portion. Since the majority of you reading this review are probably only interested in this phone’s cameras, you may have even skipped straight to this part. Before I go too far, let me just say that you will be thrilled with what I’m going to share if you fall into this category.

It is essential to discuss the quality of the portrait photos taken with the phone because it is rumored to include an “Ultra-Clear Portrait Camera System.” The phone comes pre-installed with a feature set that the brand refers to as “Portrait Expert Engine,” which includes facial recognition along with topic separation, skin tone protection, clarity, facial augmentation, and the ability to merge the image and surroundings. Notably, you have the choice between two focal lengths for your portrait photos: 24 and 47mm. According to my observations, the portrait photos taken with the phone had good edge recognition, accurately caught skin tones, and generated “social media ready” images. I even used the phone to take some incredibly wide pictures to observe the tertiary.

The OmniVision OV32C 32MP selfie camera has a 22mm focal length and an f/2.4 aperture lens. Let’s move on to the front camera. Interestingly, the phone’s selfie camera can capture 4K footage. The phone produced good-quality movies and took decent photographs when I used the front camera, but I thought the videos should have been more stable, especially since vloggers who frequently travel would be the intended audience.

Both software and performance

The MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor, which was created via a 6nm fabrication method, powers the Reno11. There are six efficiency cores and two performance cores on the chipset. The phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 8GB of dynamic RAM in addition to 128GB and 256GB of internal storage. I used the phone to test its capabilities by playing NBA 2K Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India. I had no latency or stutter while using my phone to play these games. It’s crucial to note, though, that I experienced some slowness in the user interface animations while using it. While Reno11 did a good job on the majority of the jobs.

The phone comes pre-installed with ColorOS 14, which includes Trinity Engine, a computer system designed to provide quick and fluid performance. You can multitask more effectively by switching between apps more quickly with the Trinity Engine, which allows you to keep up to 28 programs running in the background for up to 72 hours. The phone optimized battery usage by analyzing user habits, so guaranteeing a satisfactory backup.

I found ColorOS 14 to have a few particularly useful features. First, there’s File Dock, which allows you to save text or image files for convenient drag-and-drop operation, and Smart Touch, which enables you to choose text and images that weren’t initially selectable.

Life of batteries and rate of charging

A 5,000mAh battery and up to 67W SuperVOOC rapid charging are supported by the Reno11. This implies that you can charge to 33 percent in 10 minutes and to 100 percent in 45 minutes.

According to OPPO, it has also optimized the battery system to function well after four years for long-lasting battery endurance with its unique Battery Health Engine. Although it is not possible to verify this claim at this time, I can report that I was able to use this phone for about 6 hours without any issues.

Final verdict

At Rs 29,999 at retail, the OPPO Reno11 is among the best phones available for portrait photography and excels in the camera category. It is important to remember that the phone’s performance isn’t as strong as that of certain other phones in this category, including the POCO X6 Pro (review). Nevertheless, the Reno11 stands out thanks to its unique appearance. Additionally, there are onboard software features that will improve the convenience of your life. Each of these arguments supports the OPPO Reno 11.
