Mathimaran

Movie Synopsis:

Nedumaaran’s diminutive size is a source of much mockery. The remainder of the novel is around his life’s journey, particularly his relationships with his twin and the lady he loves.

Movie Review:

The narrative of Mathimaran centers on Nedumaaran, a short man who has endured many taunts throughout his life. First and foremost, props to the creators for supporting this subject and selecting Venkat Senguttavan, who shows promise, for the starring role. The actor is a superb dancer and has a strong screen presence.

There’s a particularly noteworthy part when he starts dancing and the audience starts applauding for him instead of making fun of him. Beginning as a drama, Mathimaran centers on Nedumaaran and his family of four, which consists of himself, his mother, his sister (Ivana), and his father (a moving MS Bhaskar).

However, the movie doesn’t stop there; at one point, it explores the thriller genre in addition to being a family drama. The relationship between the protagonist and his sister, which is the most compelling one in the movie, is also where Mathimaran‘s troubles begin.
This is not to argue that the family drama and the suspense aren’t subtly combined by the filmmakers, but the execution isn’t flawless. However, Karthik Raja’s music and the cast’s performances carry the story forward even in moments when the storyline falters.

You may accurately describe Mathimaran as a message film. The film has multiple exchanges that accurately highlight the negative effects of body shaming and the deteriorating state of the postal service. However, a film cannot be considered well-made simply because it makes a pertinent statement. The Mantra Veerapandian film’s excessive reliance on language and refusal to let things unfold organically is one of its main flaws.
