Review

Retired schoolteacher Eloise Parker (Phylicia Rashad) is robbed of nearly $2 million by a sophisticated network of teenage hackers, and she loses everything she owns with the push of a button. Despite being an FBI Agent Verona Parker (Emmy Raver-Lampman), her daughter is unable to apprehend these tech-savvy criminals. Enter Adam Clay (Jason Statham), a beekeeper by trade who operates a little company out of Eloise Parker’s rented garage. Despite being untouchable by even the most prestigious law enforcement agencies, Adam Clay is capable of taking down the largest and most elusive phishing mafia on his own.

The Whistleblower‘ starts with a bang, promising a high level of hardcore action and a new breed of antagonist who is young, and smart and commits his crimes without the use of force or violence. But they still destroy life. This article is interesting and provides a lot of depth to dive deep into the story of new-age scams that have become a sad reality in our lives. But ‘Umuvuvu’ can’t even jump off the top, let alone go very far.

Director David Ayer and writer Kurt Wimmer go to great lengths to explain exactly how a small tech group steals millions of dollars a day from people’s bank accounts in high-tech offices and surveillance. This is the motivation and reason why our man, Adam Clay, unleashes chaos on the bad guys and unleashes all the weapons.

Like other fast-paced action films, “The Beekeeper” also gives in to ridiculous and nonsensical events. But the innovative action choreography (by Gabriel Beristain) and Jason Statham’s powerful kicks and punches are what kept this one entertaining and new. The one thing that is predictable from the outset—even when the prose falters—is the action. It’s satisfying to watch the delicious gratification of brutal retaliation for individuals who don’t care about other people‘s hard-earned money. This maintains the plot’s direction even though the majority of the characters are clumsy clichés. Fortunately, Jason Statham, who plays the lead, doesn’t appear to have aged. The actor is still quite powerful.

For the most part, “The Beekeeper” is an engrossing action thriller with a novel tale of revenge. It would have been possible to make this sharp vengeance drama even more deadly by placing a stronger focus on the crime and how it was committed.
