JAHA BOLIBO SHOTTO BOLIBO SEASON 1: A number of courtroom dramas have appeared on Bengali OTT platforms in recent years; Mobaroknama is the most recent. Adapted from the 2002 Bapi Sen incident where a cop was killed, Jaha Bolibo Shotto Bolibo by Chandrasish Roy (Nirontor, Dugga) stars Mimi Chakraborty and Tota Roy Choudhury as the two protagonists. Mimi portrays a young attorney assigned to the crucial case of a police officer who may have been killed by beating after he intervened to stop a group of thugs from harassing a couple.

Rather than fleeing, the attackers claim to be police officers when the officer tries to stop them. Anindya Banerjee’s character, IC Tapas Saha, is killed in the ensuing altercation. After being asked to take up the prosecution, Pritha finds herself up against Tota Roy Choudhury’s (Jayraj Singha), a cunning and calculating lawyer who irritates her both inside and outside of the courtroom. However, throughout the course of the series, his frail side comes to light. Additionally, Tota did a great job of giving the character a convincing voice.

Mimi’s portrayal of her character is quite credible, and her tough-cop role in Raktabeej is understandable given the novel approach to the character. In spite of her fear, she is brave enough to confront Jayraj despite her vulnerability and extroversion. The narrative also follows her interactions with her boyfriend and her personal life.

The first section of the story is expertly written, and the narrative flows well. Before coming to an intriguing conclusion, it waffles a little. Most of the plot is compelling, and there are just enough turns and revelations to keep you interested to the finish. The editing keeps the suspense and the sound and music fit the drama perfectly.
