Gabit Smart Ring

Gabit Smart Ring This small, innocent-looking item is the next step in wearable technology. It’s unlikely anyone will know you’re wearing it, but it will track your activity and vitamins 24/7 and give you information you can use to improve your health. His ability to do something about it without it getting in his way is essentially his raison d’être. Of course, I’m talking about smart rings; This is an area that looks poised for a lot of growth. IDC’s Navkendar Singh believes that 2024 will be the year of smart rings, and this class of devices will bring life and health from watches. All signs point to this. It may be early yet, but there are already good movements in space; Ultrahuman, Ship (synopsis), and Noise (synopsis) also join the fray. I have a beautiful ring on my finger from Gabit, whose name is a combination of the words ‘good‘ and ‘habit‘.

Design

The Gabit Smart Ring is offered in matte black and matte silver finishes and several sizes. Because size is crucial in this case, when you place an order with Gabit, you will receive a sizing kit with plastic rings that you can try on to ensure the ideal fit and the smart ring will be shipped in the appropriate size.

For optimal effects, the firm advises wearing it on your index finger; but, if that isn’t how you feel, you can instead wear it on your middle or ring fingers. The Gabit Smart Ring, which is made of titanium, is only 3.1 grams in weight and is 8 mm in width and 2.7 mm in thickness, making it not overly large.

To ensure that the sensors face the inside of your palm, there is a little ridge on top to assist with proper wear. The sensors are visible through the transparent resin coating covering them from the inside of the ring. It’s possible that the three bumps there are there to guarantee proper skin contact. Despite being 5ATM water resistant, the ring hasn’t scratched or exhibited any signs of wear in my month-long use. The ring is, in my opinion, comfortable to wear at all times, including to bed. I believe you would agree that, as compared to a wristwatch, a ring is a more comfortable wearable for tracking physical activity—that is unless you detest the notion of wearing one.

Features

The Gabit Ring monitors a range of vitals and activities with the help of a variety of sensors, such as a 3D accelerometer, a PPG sensor, a SpO2 sensor, and a skin temperature sensor. It measures heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, VO2 max, stress, skin temperature, steps and workouts, and sleep patterns. The associated app contributes nutrition data by recording food and calorie consumption. The heart rate and SpO2 can be measured immediately, but the other metrics become visible after wearing the ring for some time. Women’s health-specific features are not available at this time.

Connectivity and applications

The companion app, Gabit provides an identical one for iOS and Android users. For any wearable, but especially for a smart ring, the app experience is crucial. The app is the entry point to everything this specific market has to offer because the user cannot engage with the ring and it is unable to provide feedback. Furthermore, the app may be among Gabit’s greatest features. But a reason for worry as well. Firstly, the app is quite feature-rich, with sections for home, skincare, diet, exercise, and community. The main tab displays the data that the ring collected, but you have to scroll to see it.

But once you learn more about the search information, the app experience seems pretty good. The information is well presented with easy-to-understand visuals, scores, graphs, and trends. The info panel now shows the ring’s battery level with a sync button at the top, followed by sleep, activity, and vitals. Highlights include heart rate, VO2 Max, heart rate, HRV, SpO2, and skin temperature displayed in map mode. Click on each direction for details and directions. Sleep Score and Activity Score are helpful, brief but helpful insights into how these scores can impact your day. For example: “Short but lots of sleep. You slept less than the optimal amount of time, but it was good deep sleep, which is associated with improved physical functions. ”

Performance and battery life

My usage leads me to believe that the ring’s data, particularly that related to heart rate and sleep, is fairly reliable. When I compared the step count to that of a high-end smartwatch, it felt a little higher, but still within a reasonable range. The important thing to keep in mind here, in my opinion, is that tracking historical data and patterns is more crucial than concentrating on the exact statistics of a certain day or activity. This is where the information from the Gabit Smart Ring is helpful.

When it comes to battery life, the Gabit Smart Ring may be recharged using the little charging case that comes with the product. This charging case, which is smaller than a TWS case and features a Type-C connection on the side, comes with a Type-A to Type-C cable from Gabit in the box. The sensor bumps on the inside of the ring line up with corresponding indents in the case when you insert the ring for charging, making charging simple and convenient. It charges fast as well; a full charge takes less than two hours. The battery life is remarkable. The ring lives up to Gabi’s seven-day guarantee, sometimes even lasting an extra day.

Verdict

The smart ring segment in India is still in its infancy, but things are likely to change dramatically when companies like Samsung enter the space. Gabit is one of the first movers and seems to be taking the right approach. The Gabit Smart Ring is priced at Rs 13,800 (Rs 13,100 after discount and available on gabit.com). I think the app could use some tweaks in the areas I mentioned above, but other than that it ticks all the right boxes in terms of collecting and analyzing activity and battery life. Thanks to the smart ring and ecosystem that Gabit has built around it, the company wants to give you a complete picture of your life as a whole, rather than just focusing on activities and pursuits. It includes things like skin care, nutrition, and giving you the chance to work out and exercise, and that seems to be heading in the right direction.
