Munnar

Munnar is a hill station in Kerala’s Idukki district that is well-known for its tea gardens, verdant surroundings, winding roads, misty blankets, and vistas. Situated at an elevation of 1600 meters in the Western Ghats, it is a highly sought-after and often visited tourism destination worldwide, particularly among honeymooners.

The Ideal Time To Go

Due to the lovely weather, September through March is the best time to visit there. Though a tad warm, it can still be visited in the summer months of April through June. The monsoon season, which lasts from July to August, should be avoided because of the intense rains that might cause landslides and road closures, which could interfere with your travel plans.

Ways to Get to Munnar

How to take a plane: There is no airport in Munnar. The closest airport, Cochin International Airport, is 110 kilometers away from Munnar if you want to travel there by plane. You can either take a direct bus to Munnar or hire a taxi from this point on.

How to travel by car: About 100 kilometers away from Munnar is Aluva, which is the closest train station. You can take a bus or hire a private taxi to complete the remaining portion of the trip.

Local cabs are easily available for hire. The fare is approximately INR 1000 to INR 1500 for 150 km.
