Mangalavaaram, which features Payal Rajput, has generated a lot of interest through its promotional materials. The film’s director, Ajay Bhupathi, promised that it contains material never before explored in Indian cinema. Now that the film has been out, let’s assess its quality.


A string of fatalities shocks the inhabitants in this rural setting. It is thought that the deceased were involved in an extramarital affair. Every death occurs on Tuesday. The townspeople quickly come up with a strategy to solve the mystery behind the deaths. Who has killed? What drives him or her? This is the main purpose of Mangalavaaram.

Extra Credits:

Few people are aware of the main topic Mangalavaaram attempts to address, hence the filmmaker should be especially commended for doing something different in a big Telugu film. The film’s premise and obscenity have a very thin line between them, and if it hadn’t been handled skillfully, the entire point would have been lost. However, Payal’s character was well-designed by Ajay Bhupathi, and by the time the movie ended, one might feel sympathy for her.

Things begin to come together in the second part of the film. Payal Rajput’s past and the struggles she faces are revealed to us. A few significant twists are also disclosed. The one that appears at the end is very powerful. 

Others might not even try to play a character as unorthodox as Payal Rajput’s. In terms of performance, Payal Rajput was excellent. The actor did an excellent job portraying her character, who has a health condition. Her ability is evident in the way she sheds tears during poignant occasions. Mangalavaaram’s second hero is Ajaneesh Loknath. This thriller’s captivating background soundtrack is its essence. In their parts, Ajay Gosh, Ajmal Ameer, Ravindra Vijay, and Divya Pillai are all doing well.

Negative Points:

The narration is erratic throughout the first half, which is below average. The initial configuration is not optimal. The introduction of Payal Rajput occurs near the halfway point, but that is not the issue at hand. There isn’t much excitement in the scenes leading up to the intermission. The community has a string of killings, but the tension is not sufficiently raised. A few situations are poorly shown, such as the one in which the peasants fight among themselves.

Without a doubt, the background score is excellent, but the first hour’s narrative is shallow. Although the technical values are amazing, the thrilling moments are absent. A well-known actor made a brief appearance in the movie, but the role is poorly developed. There are a few awkward moments in the presentation.

Technical Aspects:

As was already established, Ajaneesh Loknath’s work on Mangalavaaram was outstanding. His amazing background score greatly aided the movie, and he is undoubtedly one of Sandalwood’s greatest artists. The cherry on top is the superb sound design. The picture is technically better because of cinematographer Sivendra Dasaradhi’s striking images and amazing production values.


Overall, Mangalavaaram tackles a novel idea, and the second hour of the screenplay is really interesting. The actress Payal Rajput is at the peak of her game, and her role is well-designed. The greatest technical values in recent memory are also found in Mangalavaaram. However, there are a few uninteresting sections in the first half of the story, which makes it uneven. This movie is worth seeing because of its innovative idea and excellent technical aspects.
