Family Aaj Kal Review

Family Aaj Kal‘ provides an insight into the intricacies of middle-class existence by portraying the day-to-day challenges and happiness faced by an ordinary Indian family. The series, which is set in the busy metropolis of Delhi, centers on the struggles that the late Nitesh Pandey’s character Shekhar, his wife Faiza (Sonali Sachdev), and their children Meher and Sahir (Apoorva Arora and Aakarshan Singh, respectively), confront.

Meher’s admission about her relationship with taxi driver Gaurav (Prakhar Singh) is the central theme of the story. The conflict between conventional ideals and contemporary goals is emphasized in this plot, as Meher’s parents struggle with the thought of her dating someone they believe lacks a stable future.

The series, which was created and directed by Manoj Kalwani and Parikshit Joshi, realistically depicts the modest lifestyle of its people, putting the drama in context. But it ignores additional difficulties that families such as Meher’s can face in favor of concentrating mostly on the tension surrounding her unusual choice of partner.

Meher is engagingly portrayed by Apoorva Arora, which successfully captures her nervousness and misgivings about telling her family about her romance. As devoted parents, Sonali Sachdev and Nitesh Pandey shine, and their chemistry gives the family dynamic more nuance. However, the effect of Arora and Prakhar Singh’s tale is lessened by their lackluster chemistry. Masood Akhtar, who plays their grandfather, and Aakarshan Singh, who plays Meher’s brother, both do a good job in the supporting cast.

Family Aaj Kal‘ offers an insight into middle-class living, but its inconsistent narrative structure makes for a slow-moving plot, particularly in the parts that center on Meher and Gaurav’s romance. Innovative attempts, including breaking the fourth wall, don’t seem appropriate for the show’s setting.

In contrast to other family dramas like ‘Gullak‘ and ‘Yeh Meri Family,’ this series does not adequately go into the difficulties that middle-class families encounter. For those who are interested in family dramas, it is nevertheless worth seeing due to its realistic portrayal and superb performances.
